I thought Babson would provide the pragmatic perspective I was looking for as well as extensive experience in developing business ventures - it did just that! What I enjoyed the most was the genuine enthusiasm of the professors and the way in which it energizes you. The combination of outstanding entrepreneurial knowledge and a fabulous network has provided me with some really useful material and contacts.
A challenging individual or team project that enables you to apply everything you have learned during the program and reposition your career.
Some of our participants choose to address an issue of strategic importance for their companies while others opt to develop the business plan of their future start-ups. The Capstone project can therefore open up new career opportunities - a stepping stone to promotion or the successful launch of a new business venture.
The Capstone Project gave me the opportunity to assess the feasibility of creating my own start-up, Homy+, which aims to provide communication and organization solutions for the home. During the project, I developed all the aspects of the strategic approach - applying everything I had learned at HEC Paris. This enabled me to analyze the feasibility of the project before deciding to launch. The Capstone Project played a vital role in determining if I would go ahead with Homy+. The company was officially set up in February 2014, just 6 months after the validation by the jury!
I learned a lot from this experience and I now fully understand all the key concepts that were taught during the EMBA program. I especially appreciated the rich and exciting exchanges with my advisor, Sébastien Martin, and the strong working relationship I developed with my Capstone project partner.
My advisor really challenged me throughout the project. He fully understood the impact that the capstone project would have on my life - and that of my family. He made sure I had all the essential elements at my disposal to take the final decision. In the end, the project totally transformed me. My dream was to launch a business venture and thanks to the HEC Paris Executive MBA and the Capstone Project this is now a reality. My new dream is to make sure that this venture is a success!
I have been working in the Digital industry for almost 20 years and was the CMO and a shareholder of a well-known French betting site for horse racing. I joined the HEC Paris EMBA program to upgrade my theoretical knowledge and to confront my business ideas with a fast-changing and more complex world. The EMBA gave me the unique opportunity to thoroughly analyze the launch of the first phase of my new start up - Oulala Games - whilst preparing the launch of the second one (which will include our first external fund-raising campaign).
Each class was a direct opportunity for me to challenge every single aspect of the development and strategy of Oulala. I probably got a bit more than the other participants from the program because I asked all the professors very specific questions about my start-up. I particularly appreciated the impressive quality and diversity of the speakers and the professors.
Being able to attend some courses in a famous American university was truly stimulating. My best memory of the program, apart from swimming in the Google balls pool at their headquarters, was the day we attended Geoffrey Moore’s class. I have read most of his books, and being able to talk to him about my company project was incredible. He gave me some really precious advice. Thank you HEC Paris!
