Clean Energy Development and Global Leadership

On 5th November, HEC Paris welcomed a group of 25 senior executives from China Energy for the 3-week training program “Clean Energy Development and Global Leadership”. After last year’s successful cooperation with HEC, China Energy(former Shenhua and China Guodian) deepens the partnership this year and diversifies the curriculum by having one module in Marseille to visit leading French Industry representatives. The program was co-designed and led by two academic directors Prof. Jean-Michel Gauthier and Prof. Andrea Masini.

The first module was delivered at Camps Jouy and the course content concentrated on the current and future drivers of energy demand, globally and regionally. The participants visited leading energy players like Total and CEA Saclay.

The second module was held in Marseille, a city of global influence, offering examples of old, long-standing industries. The curriculum concentrates on operations and innovation which allows participants to examine how old industrial basins have been restructured and redesigned in a carbon-constrained economy, and discuss the strategy and economics which underpins new activities. The participants visited CMA&CGM, Uniper, CEA Cadarache, Iter and the Camp.

The third week was dedicated to the game-changers in the energy sector as well as car manufacturing, digital, financial and start-up sectors. HEC Paris together with China Energy also organized high-level meetings with executives from Schneider, Renault, Station F and IEA.
