HEC Paris history: Jean Rédélé (HEC 1946), father of the Alpine

HEC Graduate (class of 1946,) automobile and rally enthusiast, Jean Rédélé is the father of the legendary Alpine sportscar that inspired the dreams of an entire generation. The Berlinette A110 was presented in 1962 at an automobile show in Paris. A powerful car, light and easy to use, the Alpine got its name from its impressive performance around the winding roads of the Alps. However, it was by winning some of the greatest rallies, including Monte-Carlo in 1971, the World Rally Championship in 1974 and the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1978 that the Alpine Renault became famous amongst the general public. (© J.M.
