Bill Gates, Chairman of the Microsoft Corp. gave a speech at the HEC campus in Jouy-en-Josas on 1st February 2007. During the speech, he expressed his fascination for the world of business - which, at 20 years of age, drove him to give up his law studies at Harvard to start his own company, Microsoft. The key to his success: sheer inspiration. Despite the fact that computers were considered “frightful things” in the 60s and 70s, Gates was convinced that these machines would soon be found in every household and would equip all businesses. Bill Gates is not simply a business man, indeed he is also quite the philanthropist; awarded "Personality of the Year" in 2005 by Times Magazine for the actions he carried out through his Foundation.
