Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University (THU AAD)

As the first higher education institution of arts and design in China, AAD has been a leader in the field since it was established in 1956. The Academy offers three first class teaching in Fine Art, Design and Art and is the only Chinese institution to be listed for the World Top 60 Design Colleges three times in a row. At present, the 11 departments include a numbers of art educators, artists, art critics and scholars and developed excellent teaching facilities.

 

Qingdao Innovation Research Institute of Arts and Science, Tsinghua (RIAST)

RIAST is the only authorized institute of THU AAD in China and jointly developed by Qingdao Municipal Government, THU and Qingdao West Coast New Area. RIAST integrates R&D, incubation and services in order to develop and provide world-class technology innovation and business incubation, high-end talent development, arts and culture communication as well as arts and science innovation.

HEC Paris

Founded in 1881 by the Region Paris Ile-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry, HEC Paris specializes in education and research in management sciences. As a leading academic institution in Europe and worldwide, HEC Paris has a permanent faculty of 110 professors, 4,000 students and over 8,000 managers in executive education programs every year. The school has developed into one of the world’s best business schools, as showcased by the Financial Times rankings 2019. HEC Paris is offering a the Executive Program in Media, Art & Creation to train participants in cultural management by adopting a transversal approach and by working closely with the cultural and creative sectors.

OVERVIEW

 

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Media, Art & Creation Executive Program has been co-created by THU AAD, RIAST and HEC Paris. The aim of the program is to cultivate professional talents in management of different art forms and communication of culture which cater to the needs of the booming culture industry both within and outside China.

 

WHAT WILL YOU GET

  • Participants will be awarded a Certificate from Tsinghua University and HEC Paris after successfully completing all the courses of the Program.

  • Participants who earn the necessary credits by obtaining a passing grade in all the modules and by successfully completing the professional thesis, are eligible for the Mastère Spécialisé® degree in Media, Art and Creation (HEC Paris MS MAC) accredited by the ‘Conference des Grandes Écoles’, the French accreditation organization.

  • The Program is composed of 10 modules running over a period of  18 months, with an additional 6 to 8 months to complete the professional thesis. 8 modules will be taught in China following a weekend format. The 2 remaining modules will be taught consecutively in France in a modular format. The program is taught in English and Chinese and   features in-class modules, visits to cultural and arts institutions, roundtable discussions, case studies and collaborative projects.

  • The curriculum development and teaching are provided by faculty from Tsinghua University and HEC Paris. They are all authorities in their respective fields and draw on their research and their real-world experience in academia and business to offer a comprehensive and highly practical learning experience.

Alain DUMONT

A graduate of HEC Paris and Sorbonne, Alain Dumont is a professor of strategy at HEC Paris and has worked as strategic advisor for Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. An innovation specialist, he is the co-author of The Technical Challenges and Opportunities of a United Europe (Pinter Press, 1990) and of Histoire (s) d'Innover (InterEditions, 1992). Alain Dumont is also a director of several innovative SMEs and a visiting professor at Tulane University.

 

 

Anne MICHAUT

At HEC Paris, Anne Michaut teaches in the Grande Ecole, MBA, Executive MBA, and Executive Education programs. Her current research interests are in the field of luxury, focusing on the perception of luxury, sustainable development, entrepreneurship and client experience. She holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences and a MSc. in Marketing and Consumer Behavior from Wageningen University.

 

LU Xiaobo

Dean of THU AAD, Director of Tsinghua Arts & Science Research Center, Director of Tsinghua Arts & Design Experimental Teaching Center, doctoral supervisor; Director of Design Teaching Instruction Committee of the National Ministry of Education, Commissioner of China Association of Science and Technology, Vice Chairman of China Artists Association and Vice Chairman of China Industrial Design Association.

 

MA Sai

Communist Party Chief and professor at Tsinghua University whose research field is multi-dimensional visual rendition as it applies to exhibition design. Ma Sai has hosted and participated in many national design programs, such as commemorative landscape sculpture and parade floats design for the 60th and 70th anniversary of the founding of PRC as well as the Beijing Olympics opening and closing ceremonies. At THU AAD, he has compiled excellent textbooks for Design disciplines.

 

ZHAO Chao

Associate Dean of THU AAD, professor and doctoral supervisor, Associate Dean of Tsinghua Arts & Science Research Institute, Director of Tsinghua Health & Medical Industry Innovation Design Research Institute; Secretary General of Design Teaching Instruction Committee of the National Ministry of Education and Vice president of International Council of Design.

 

 ENROLLMENT

Who Should Attend

Media, Art & Creation Executive Program is designed for business and management practitioners in the cultural industry who would like to develop technical skills and an international outlook.

 

Credentials

Participants will receive a Certificate from Tsinghua University and HEC Paris after successfully completing all the courses of the Program. Participants who earn the necessary credits by obtaining a passing grade in all the modules and by successfully completing the professional thesis are eligible for the Mastère Spécialisé® degree in Media, Art and Creation.

 

Duration

  • 2 Years (18 month of classes and 6 to 8 months to complete the thesis)

  • Part-time Program. 8 out of the 10 modules taught in China, one weekend per month.  2 six-day modules are taught in France

 

Teaching language

Chinese (modules in China) and English (modules in France)

APPLICATION

Requirements

1. To be admitted to the program, applicants need to meet at least one of the following conditions:

  • A Master degree (M2) with no professional experience

  • First year of Master degree level (M1) or Chinese bachelor with no significant professional experience

  • Very good candidates with at least five (5) years experience in the field of Media, Art and Creation, but with no degree

2. Fluency and good writing skills in English or Chinese

3. Reference letter from any professional
