Having occupied the position of CFO in several industrial companies, I chose to complete an EMBA program to boost my professional career. For my major, I selected Differentiation and Innovation through Services - I wanted to get insights in a field which was quite new for me. New input is always very interesting to better understand the framework in which you operate. More and more industries are now service oriented: the example of Michelin illustrated this well.
Leadership and management were the core of the program. Thanks to the way the program is structured, step by step my eyes were opened to a lot of green fields and potential opportunities in business, networking … The program was a transformational experience to an extent that I had not expected when I first started.
As a result of the EMBA, I left the company where I had been working for 17 years and joined a new industrial Group in a higher position. I decided that, if I was to take on another CFO position, it had to be in an organization in a completely different environment, a different corporate culture and in a different region. I think this decision made a lot of sense – the next step for me is to move up to a General Manager position.
