HEC Paris has nominated the Chinese entrepreneur Wang Shi, founder and chairman of China Vanke, as the French business school’s International Advisor.
The partnership was announced at the Jinmao Beijing Westin Hotel on Saturday April 16th, with over 300 HEC Paris alumni from all over the world gathering at the school’s gala to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the school’s presence in China.
“China has always been and will continue to be the key focus of HEC Paris in its development,” stressed Peter Todd, Dean of HEC Paris during the Gala night.
Developing HEC Paris on an international level
As its International Advisor, Wang Shi will help HEC Paris to launch more initiatives in China, and continue to build the reputation of HEC Paris in the country while identifying new business opportunities for the school.
“As one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country, Mr Wang Shi is also a humble businessman, who continues his studies even after achieving great success,” said Mr Todd. He added: “By all standards, Wang Shi is a successful business legend and has been exploring different areas in business with the same adventurous spirit he used in conquering the highest mountains in the world. As training creative, responsible entrepreneurs and future leaders is our most important mission at HEC Paris, we believe he is a perfect model for all future entrepreneurs.”
The Chinese entrepreneur concluded by adding: “I’m honored to join HEC Paris as an International Advisor. As a 135-year old business school, it is full of vigor thanks to its academic excellence and close links with the business world.”
HEC Paris has around 700 Chinese alumni and five alumni chapters in Greater China. Over the past 15 years, the school has launched dual-degree programs with Tsinghua SEM in Beijing and exchange programs with Fudan University SM and CEIBS in Shanghai, while creating many customized programs for Chinese companies such as the Bank of China and AVIC.
